摘要: 本文简述了同源框基因(HOX)和SOX基因两大家族的特征及其在发育过程中的作用。个体发育从受精卵开始就受发育调控串基因的有序启动与关闭的控制。基因表达的调节主要在转录水平上进行,并且转录调控子多是一类DNA结合蛋白,通过其与受控基因启动子或其他调控元件的结合来调节目标基因的表达。HOX、SOX和DMRT基因三大家族正是通过上述机制参与广泛的发育调控过程。
Abstract:This paper reviews two families of genes (homeotic genes and SOX genes) and their roles in regulating development.The development of an adult organism begins with a single fertilized egg following a predetermined cascade of control,in which specific genes are turned on and off at particular times.The principal level for controlling gene expression is at transcription and the regulators of transcription are often DNA-binding proteins that activate transcription at particular promotors or other regulatory regions.By regulating transcription,these two families of genes play essential roles in a variety of developmental processes.
