Abstract: Differences among individuals in exercise performance are multifactorial and determined by a range of environmental (physical training, nutrition, and technological aids) and genetic factors. So far, numerous gene polymorphisms involved in elite athletic capability have been studied. However, in recent years, the attempts to identify new genes or loci fell into a bottleneck and may limit the use of genetic information for talent search. We selected some potential endurance-related genes, reviewed their functions in physical performance, and studied on their polymorphisms. The results of this study will provide new ideas and references for future research.
