Abstract: SIRT1 is an NAD+-dependent deacetylase in mammalian cells and plays important roles in senescence, cell death and tumorigenesis. To clarify the regulation of SIRT1 expression and activity is crucial for scientists to understand the biological function of SIRT1. This review mainly focuses on the mechanisms by which SIRT1 expression and activity are regulated.

Key words: gene expression, activity, regulatory mechanism, SIRT1
